How would no AP English junior year or senior year affect my chances of admission to Duke? I have so far taken 8 AP classes and have gotten 5s on all of them and am taking 3 more senior year. Junior year, my school had no AP English class for juniors. In my Senior Year, I had a Princeton University math course that clashed with both AP English courses so I couldn’t take either AP Lang or Lit. Will this really affect my chances for the Pratt school of engineering assuming I have decent stats and ECs like a 35 on the ACT, top 1% of my class and a 3.8 GPA?

I have heard many adcoms state that students cannot be held responsible for opportunities that are not available to them.

This gets you off the hook as long as your application makes clear the reasons that you were not able to take AP English. Depending on your relationships, I would suggest that you ask either your GC or teacher to explicitly state this in the LOR.

If your reasons are not make clear, your high school transcript will show that AP English is offered but you did not take it. This still would not be a huge deal since it sounds as if you have still taken a most rigorous course load.
