I really like Emory. In fact, Emory is my first choice school and I am thinking of applying for ED II.
I like emory for it’s emphasis on the liberal arts education, the size, and the location. However, the essay asks me to write what I like about emory other than all those factors…those are the reasons I want to go to emory so I really don’t know what else to write about…although I am interested in liberal arts studies I would choose emory over any lac because i might want to specialize in one major later on…like engineering and I feel like i would get more opportunites and meet different people and experience what a real college is like in normal??? university… also I would choose emory over any schools in california where the weather is fine because I don’t see any private school that is as small as emory and is focused on liberal arts education…

please help me out!!

Going to Emory for Engineering is like going to MIT for English.

Yes, Emory has a dual-enrollment program with Georgia Tech, but that’s WITH Georgia Tech. There is no engineering degree solely from Emory.

The point of that essay is to try and be creative… you know, to think outside the box. Emory doesn’t want more boring students who just regurgitate what you tell them.

i wanted to do that too,
but in my essay i made sure to mention that i liked the atmosphere better at emory, so i would rather live at emory and take the engineering stuff at GA Tech.
be creative, and pingpingpong, i would hope that excluding the size/weather/location, there really are other reasons why you want to go there. once you think of them, stick them in a short essay and voila :)

isn’t it a 500 words supplement?!

:(

thats the maximum i believe.
but seriously once you get to writing, you can definitely pump out at least a couple hundred words.

okay so you obviously want to go to emory, even if you want to be an engineer. why? have you visited? were you taken aback by the diversity? (i was, for example. we moved my sister in-class of 2013- and there were people representing like every ethnicity and country) do you like the student organizations that are particular to emory??

no girl I dont want to be an engineer
what i tried to say was that I could have gone to LAC if I liked liberal arts ducation so much but I would rather go to emory so that while receiving Liberal arts education, I can also have a specific major if I want.

:)
btw. Can italk about their community service program? they got award for it.
emory is kind.

When I wrote my essay, I made sure to show my interest in the college by noting a lot of specific points, so that they know I’ve made some research on Emory. For one, I talked about their SIRE program and how much I wanted to be a part of it. I also talked about the class size and the accessibility of the professors are well-known and praised about by students…blah blah. just speak from your heart, there you go.

Yes, specifics help because that shows you’ve done your research.

Emory professors are amazing. My Italian professor gave us the last day of class, I had a party at my freshman seminar’s house, and my Psychology teacher rides his bike around campus a lot (and he’s just really cool/nerdy).

Yeah for mine I talked about their amazing Eco-Friendly dorms and their Environmental clubs on campus and their Engineering programs w/ GA Tech and different professors teaching Environmental Science classes that are like, exactly what I want to study.
So specifics = Good.
