No community service.

Will the lack of Community Service kill me. I applied to the school of Community service and one other one as a computer engineer.

Well if you applied to the school of ‘Community Service’ without Community service, I would think that would kill you… but… CMU doesnt have a school of Community Service. They instead have a school of Computer Science, which without the community service would hurt mate…

I know several people that are Computer Science (not Community Service) majors and have very little actual community service. Some of them were in fake NHS’s where no one actually did hours (I did about 75 for mine) and others were busier doing research/math team/theatre that counted for community service cough . As long as CMU thinks that your varisty sports are time consuming enough to make up for it, I think you’ll be alright. However, you really should try the community service thing some time. There’s lots of interesting and helpful things to be done. :)

Yea… thats called working in my books Don’t stress it though, just make sure you do something outside of school (like clubs or sports), so that the college can get a good idea for what you do in your spare time. Otherwise, all CMU could guess is that you are a stoner that listens to punk rock right after school to about 4 at night.

yeah… i don’t really see the big buzz on community service. from what i can understand, it’s simply another type of extracurricular activity. just like not doing “theatre” (another type of EC) isn’t necessarily going to hurt u, not doing community service is also fine

leadership on the other hand… but let’s not go there
