No football threads lately ??

Haven’t seen any football threads lately - sad to see the Wolverines lose to Ohio State but it was a great season. Who would have thought the team would go 9-3 with a bowl game no less. Go Blue.

Im a bit bitter knowing that our two big rivals are going to go to better bowls than us, but aside from that, I’d consider this a pretty successful season.

I already feel the success that Harbaugh is going to have over the next few years

Agreed marfalights. It was a rough ending to an otherwise very positive season. My only regret was the MSU game. We played better on that day.

At any rate, Michigan is back in that it now has a strong sense of purpose of a clear identity.

Rudock turned out to be a solid QB. Too bad he is gone next season, but I am sure Harbaugh will develop the returning QBs into winners. Who will emerge between Morris, Speight and Malzone?

The WRs/TEs (Chesson, Darboh, Butt etc…) all come back…I think. This could be one of the best receiving units in the country.

The RBs are a disappointment. Green and Isaac were both #1 in their high school class, and neither is living up to their potential. Smith showed some spirit, but he was not playing healthy for most of the season. Hopefully, they will be more productive next season. Maybe if the OL plays better, our RBs will gain more ground.

Where Michigan needs to develop most is in the trenches. We had some good performances, but not enough depth. That much was clear when our running game deteriorated as the season progressed. OSU manhandled us on both sides of the ball…plain and simple. On Defense, it showed when Ryan Glasgow went down for the season. But I think Ryan Glasgow has another year of eligibility, so if he makes a full recovery, this could be a very strong Defense, with guys like Peppers, Lewis and Thomas in the backfield and Poggi, Charlton and Wormley up front.

I am just hoping that Maryland does not take Durkin. He did a great job this year.

That’s the kind of “heart” I want to see from our players!

I don’t know what happened in that game against Ohio - I thought it would have gone better for the Wolverines.

I hope Jake Rudock is able to play in the bowl game - not sure how serious his injury is. I am nor sure about the QB situation for next year either but I get the impression Harbaugh doesn’t like Morris.

I am with you on DJ Durkin - hope he stays but wouldn’t be surprised if he took the HC position at Maryland.

One good piece of news was that Jordan Elliott a 4 * recruit committed to Michigan right after that terrible game so it’s good to know that Harbaugh is good at recruiting.

I am not surprised with Jordan Elliott’s commitment. 9-3 considering the competition we faced and the rebuilding that had to be done is impressive. Now if we could only get Rashan Gary and Kareem Walker!

For the Hornung award.

Thanks Blue85. Did it!

O’Korn

True rjk, I totally forgot about John O’Korn. He will definitely be in the mix. It should be interesting to see what happens. We will definitely have a strong passer.

And it is now official; Hackett is retiring and Durkin has taken theMaryland HC job. IT will be interesting to see who we hire to replace them.

cheers…

I have heard grumblings that this was a disappointing season. Anyone who is disappointed with a 9-3 season is out of their mind. Most predicted no better than 8-4 (8-4 was my prediction). You need one to two more years of rebuilding and it’ll solidly be a powerhouse again.

Yes, I’m a Sparty but I cheer for Michigan when they’re not playing us. I’m so happy to see a rivalry again. I despise when there’s a huge differential between the two (either way, its just not fun). I can’t wait until you guys can put OSU in their place. It’ll be a great day for all of Michigan.

I look forward to seeing Michigan develop over the next several months.
