So my dad just said he won’t be funding my education anymore (his buisness collapsed), so that basically means I cannot go to any college even in my country.
I want to pursue environmental engineering with a minor in data science.
Is there a way to pursue them in an online manner, that could be of an affordable cost maybe like 300 or 400 dollars at max.
Free college in Germany, Norway, Argentina, and other countires, if you can get there and find a way to pay your expenses while you are there. Do some googling for more countries with free college, but realistically, you’re going to have to work and save money for any of your plans.
Regroup. Put college on hold for now. There is no desperate reason why you need to go to college this year. Earn money, as much as you can, and spend the year working out a new plan. Good luck.
I am so so sorry to hear this, because I know how much work you have put into your applications and what a strong student you are. You have amazing qualities that will still help you, even with this setback. You are a great student and have wonderful test scores, and your diligence and perseverance are amazing.
I know you don’t want to do this, but can you live at home and go to one of your local colleges? A quick google seems to show that they would be the cost of a few hundred dollars in US equivalent. And you could then go to the US for a master’s degree. I know that four years away seems like forever, but truly, it goes quickly.
I was saddened to see this note. I have no idea about studying in other countries. I think going local is always smart. Our Masters programs have students from hundreds of countries, with India high up the list.
Life is long - not a sprint - so figure out how to study from home and revisit in four years - it seems a good idea.
Take a look at ASU Arizona state university. They have a very strong online curriculum and some scholarships.
I suggest asking an AI agent for recommendations for what you are looking for specifically — just double check the results as the AI engines are sometimes wrong.
1/ do as well as you can in your current curriculum - countries outside of India will use these scores to decide whether to admit you and whether to give you a scholarship.
2/ look for countries with free college (however they may require you to know a language other than English).
The most likely would be the German HochSchulen, some have programs in English and don’t charge tuition, and if you’re selected but don’t speak German you can attend a StudienKolleg where they give you about a year to learn German.
Finland, Belgium, France may be other possibilities.
OP- sending you hugs. I have no solutions for you except to tell you that your drive and grit are exceptional- and will serve you well regardless of what you end up doing next year.
I know you applied to a great many schools. Did you apply to them with need? If not, this seems like a circumstance that would qualify as a sufficiently life changing event that you could change status. Have you heard back from any/many that have offered full merit?
Echoing others, this is very tough but you are going to be OK! There are paths that will work for you, even if they take a bit longer.
Without knowing your full circumstances, I do think possibly working and saving for a while might be a worth considering. Exploring online options is also fine, but I think sometimes there is enough value in a devoted period of in-person study that it is worth putting that off for a bit if it isn’t immediately possible financially.
I note I think some of the most focused and prepared college students come out situations like that. They know what they want out of college, they know how to work for it, they are adults among kids, kids who sometimes still have some things to figure out. Basically, my point is there are often some upsides to taking a pause, which can serve you well in the long run.
You have no valid case. You were told that you have no valid case in your last thread. Not getting your way is not the same as illegal business practices. You also have no money for lawyers. So you need to let it go
Do you qualify for the College Board India Scholars program, which will give you a scholarship to attend an Indian college based on your SAT score for colleges in India that do not use the JEE?
This is super screwed up. Most colleges do not recognise this program anymore, I mailed a lot of colleges on the list asking If I was eligible. They denied me or ignored me.
I asked chargpt the following and it listed various options to consider. I assume you have done the same, but here is what I asked. Of course, ChatGPT often gets things wrong, but if it lists anywhere you haven’t already considered maybe that would be helpful:
Indian student high financial need low JEE but good SAT. What are options in India?
