atomom, my daughter took two classes at the local high school her senior year to get some classroom experience and it worked out very well for her too. By the time the school year was up she knew, without a doubt, where she stood in comparison with college bound schooled students. She left for college this fall confident she was as well prepared or better than others. I think that helped make for a very smooth transition.

I strongly recommend that your son contact the schools he intends to apply to and find out what they require from homeschoolers. Some want only transcripts, others want portfolios.

I agree with Susantm about her book suggestion. We also found some very concrete help with transcripts in * The Homeschooler’s Guide to Portfolios and Transcripts *, published by Arco.
