no one shares notes at UCLA?

I heard that no one will share their notes at UCLA because it’s so competitive. Is this true?

I think generally speaking, if you just ask some random person in your class without ever talking to them for notes, they’re going to say no.

You can’t walk up to someone and say, “Ey brah, my bros and I were getting wasted last night and I didn’t go to class the next day. Can you gimme your notes brah? Come on brah dont be like that, just be cool aight?”

But if you make an effort to get to know someone in your class and become acquaintances/friends, then of course they’ll share notes with you.

^what he said. It’s basically a “scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours” basis.

My daughter is a senior at UCLA. I remember conversations with her about having to miss a lecture and getting notes from a friend. She also sets up study groups with people in her classes and I am sure they help each other out. As another poster said, you wouldn’t ask a random person in your class for their notes, just as you wouldn’t ask a stranger to loan you $500. But you would ask this of a friend who is in the class and is someone you have possibly been studying with, or someone you have helped out in the class. It is competitive, but most people are competing with themselves, meaning they are trying to do their best, and to better their last grade type of thing.
