"No Re-Take" Strategy

I will be applying to the usual suspects – HPYSM with a major in science.

I scored a 800 on my math SATII and a 2120 (780 math) on the SAT.

If all goes will I will be in the top 10% of my highly competitive high school and have very strong ec’s (three published research papers in professional journals, head of robotics, University internships for three summers running, etc.

Anyway, I will not re-take the SAT’s and instead will concentrate on my classes and ec’s. My thought is that after 2100 (which seems to be a threshold minimum for most A-list schools) there is no need to overcompensate on standardized test scores.

Also, I have been told that a one-time sitting can be viewed as applicant confidence in his or her abilities – so even though I might score higher next time – it is considered a plus.

Also, also… no more pressure from the SAT. That is HUGE.

Thoughts on my strategy, please.

if you’re happy with it, that makes it a good strategy. because SAT prep is definitely time consuming and some people can put up with it, but if you can better direct your efforts into your ECs and school then go for it! screw the SAT, its all a game anyway xD
