Hello,
I am a senior student in Germany, and applying at a few colleges in the US.
I went on an exchange to Australia for a year in grade 11, and did NOT receive a report card there.
I am uncertain of what to do, as the common app requires all report cards from year 9 on.
PLEASE HELP!

Have you contacted the exchange school in Australia asking for a surrogate report card? Have you asked your school’s administration about how to get such a report card/transcript or its equivalent?
Have you contacted the colleges to which you’re planning to apply to ask what they require in a case such as yours (only you know the details)? Surely they expect something. Possibly this is a situation that’s occurred before and they have policy. Perhaps not and they need to treat is as a special case.

You’re welcome to provide more details on CC so that someone(s) will venture an opinion. Best though is that you work with your primary sources, and those who will manage your college applications: your current school, the exchange school in Australia, and (once you’ve done that) the colleges to which you’re applying.

Did you get credits from your German school for the year abroad?

My son did a year abroad in France, through a program offered by his US school. The US school managed the whole transcript process, including taking what documentation was provided by the French school, translating it, adding their own commentary etc. His French grades were NOT averaged into his US school’s GPA calculation.

Essentially, the French credits were applied as Pass/Fail.

I hope this helps. Start with YOUR school and see what they have to say.
