Hi, I’m currently a freshman and because I have started to feel bored with the time outside of school, I have decided to apply towards volunteer positions at the hospital and the nature center. However, it seems that even after filling out the forms, I don’t receive any emails/calls at all. It’s been nearly two months since I applied. Should I call the organization and also is anyone else experiencing this as well? Thank you for reading and for your help in advance.

It’s likely that because of time constraints or lack of personnel, these organizations just don’t respond if they have no interest or opportunities. However, the proper way to have handled this was to contact the organizations about two weeks after submitting your applications to confirm that they were received and inquire about when you could expect a response. This approach would have shown that you had a sincere and continuing interest and would have addressed the very real possibility that something went awry: your submission didn’t get to the right person, you missed a key deadline, you received a response but the email went to your spam file or the phone message was accidentally deleted. So call now, and don’t let so much time elapse in the future.

Ok thanks I’ll try that! :)
