No room in residence - now what?

I’m an entering first-year student, and have been told that McGill cannot provide housing for me because I was admitted after the housing deadline and they are overbooked now. What are my best options?

Whoa, why were you admitted after the deadline? Waiting list or something?

Anyways…your best solution/only solution is to get an apartment. Just make sure your social dude…you won’t have the natural bridge that is living in a rez.

you can try the presbyterian college…its sort of like a rez…its like where mcgills theology students are supposed to live but about 80% of students who live there are either transfer students or first years who didnt get residence

i knew several people there…they seemed to have a good time…the college is also the closest living place to campus…

i hear its also much cheaper than rez…so u can try this…getting an appartment by uself might suck if ur a really social person…

The presbyterian college seems a bit restrictive… am I wrong? I’m moving in as a transfer and have also been denied room due to my acceptance being after the deadline for housing. If anyone has more information about the presbyterian college, please let us know! I’m looking at my options and I definately don’t want to get an apartment alone, I might just move in with some random roommates but that’s pretty risky!

I am in the same boat, I’m afraid. Res is full-up. I’m frantically posting on craigslist, searching for a large apartment with lots of undergraduate roomates, hoping that I won’t end up completely isolated first semester.
If any other transfer/first-years denied housing want to keep in touch and consider getting a big apartment together, I would be game!
I’m a 19-year-old from the States, perspective econ major, studious, but always up for some ridiculous fun!

same boat, usmcgilltransfer. The thought of living alone first year in a different country with no friends makes me shudder. Where are you transferring from?

Start looking for apartments man. If it makes you feel any better, I’m in between apartments myself and I haven’t found one yet.

Oberlin College. What about you?

Rutgers. Do you have facebook?

have you tried McGill’s Off Campus site? (http://www.mcgill.ca/offcampus/</a>)
