no visits to report

Yes I went to Portland- no we didn’t look at schools
Younger D rode down with sis on Monday
( barely averted a crisis- she was * supposed *to take the train down Sunday- then sis was going to meet her- however Sis was with someone whose truck broke down and they didn’t get down to Portland till Monday night- Dthe younger- would have been sitting at the train station)

Tuesday night I drove down (oh so tired because even though it is a fairly short drive- I hate driving at night in the rain on the freeway alongside all those 18 wheelers- so I made several rest stops where I was amused to find had wireless)

I had called each of my Ds a few times- but their plans were always tentative- I finally gave up and took the max lt rail to downtown Portland and did errands.( oh and they finally called me- when I was trying on clothes to ask if I wanted to take them out to dinner- I said um- well no * now I was busy!-* but I took them out the next day- to Pho Van- on Hawthorne  )

I suppose I should have gotten more info to D, so she would be more interested in the schools- because as far as I know, the only ones she knows anything about or is interested in, are Occidental and UCSC, which are probably not good fits, even though they could be realistic reaches.

But it sounds like she had a nice visit- so I am thinking we will try again spring break. We aren’t really in a hurry, she is planning on taking a year off - but I did make it clear that she still needs a back up plan for the year off so I will try to make a report after spring break ;)

Glad you made it back safely! Frustrating, isn’t it, when the best laid plans just don’t come together?

I was actually wondering whether you were going to start a thread about the Oscars tomorrow night. :)
