No Word On Scholarship - Up or Down

MY D applied by 12/1 but hasn’t heard a thing about scholarships - up or down. I see that some here have received a letter saying they weren’t awarded a scholarship. Others received letters saying there were.

What does it mean (if anything) if you haven’t received either?

I also haven’t received either. I got a letter requesting mid year grades though…so I don’t know.

The senior posters on this forum can verify this, but they stopped sending out notifications to people who did get the scholarships/scholarship invites in early February. This likely means that you were moved to the regular notification pool. good luck!

Seahawks is correct. You will be notified via postal mail of a decision with the majority of applicants around April 1 (or sooner if admissions is ready).

Hi stanford,

My son didn’t get a letter either way, either. So I contacted admissions a few weeks after it was reported letters had gone out. They told me a letter was sent to him on the 26th of January (but we never got it). I would contact admissions, just to make sure they have the correct contact information and all the materials they need. Good luck!

The scholarship letters and interviews have already taken place at USC, but if your child happens to be accepted and is a National Merit Finalist, they still receive half tuition off as a Presidential scholar.

At this point, the scholarship interviews are over.

The Explore program for full and half tuition scholarship interviews was in the first week or so of this month. You can still receive other need-based grants as part of the regular financial aid package.

There are also other merit scholarships to be awarded as well. It is just the Trustee/Presidential (non -NMF) that have held their interviews.

Some of the individual schools at SC such as Marshall, Viterbi and Annenberg give out smaller merit scholarships to certain students upon admission. Some alumni scholarships are also awarded. These may not be as large, but every bit helps.

So will we know what smaller scholarships we got with our admission status on April 1?

Each school has different policies. It is my understanding most of the individual schools notify students at the time of admission of a scholarship award.

Perhaps some of the parents of students now enrolled at SC can post when their seniors received scholarships such as alumni, Annenberg, Viterbi or Marshall.
