Nobody takes showers

Is everyone there yet? And do they stay there and not go all the time? Other than that, I dunno, maybe they all shower when you’re asleep. I had like 15-20 girls on my floor sharing the bathroom and I almost never saw anyone else in there while I was in there.

You guys have to clean your own private baths?

I don’t dorm but I know that all of the dorm bathrooms at my school have housekeeping services. Cleaning, toilet paper, etc. Communal baths are cleaned daily and private baths are cleaned weekly.

I can’t believe some people don’t shower.

I shower two times a day most days and also wash my face a few times between them on a daily basis. And I wash my hands at least twelve times daily. Washing isn’t that difficult, people–I learned how to do it when I was a year old.

It’s actually not so good for your face to wash it too many times a day. Too drying.

Same for hair, actually. For girls at least. My hair would break off and die if I took two showers a day.

I use Cetaphil, which moisturizes, for middway washings. Always have to wash if I’ve gotten sweaty.

isn’t 2 a day (every day, obviously there are some times when it’s necessary) a bit excessive?

Rarely is there a person in the community showers when I’m showering.

Everyone is probably showering at different times throughout the day/night. I’ve heard that a lot of times with community bathroom situation, everyone kind of notices when other people are in there and then work their schedule so that no one or very few people are using the bathroom when they are.

Rofl at the title. ^_^

I take two per day, but on an average day during the college semester I will likely work out, go swimming, or do some hard work around my house on any given day. Sweat, chlorine, or dirt/grass warrants a shower even if I’m not going anywhere that night–can’t get into bed dirty.

The only real side effect I’ve noticed is that I have to own like 20 towels to keep up with my pace.

Also, if you live in a dorm with a lot of athletes, they might be taking showers at the gym!

Yes, I shower at the gym and pool now and then. Especially the pool–don’t want the car to reek of chlorine and if it’s been parked in the sun, sitting down on a hot leather seat with a wet bathing suit hurts like heck (I found this out the hard way–put the towel down before you sit if you have leather or vinyl in your car).

most of the athletes i know, and in my dorm, shower at the gym/pool/stadium.

i much prefer community showers b/c they clean them 3 or 4 times a week (much more than i or any suitmates would) and there are usually no other people in them when i’m showering. also, it’s more awkward to see random personal things left behind by people in your suite.

however, if i had my actual own bathroom/shower, as in only for me, then yeah that’d be nice.

I’ve been in a dorm for about 2 weeks now, and I have to say the communal shower thing works just fine. Always clean, never have to wait for the shower (3 stalls for about 25 people), and the privacy issue really doesn’t bother me, especially because the bathroom is practically always empty.

I shower twice a day, rinse off in the morning and a full shower at night. At most it’s been me and one other person in there. Most times I’ve been in there alone. Part of the scarceness of people is that there are two bathrooms with 4 showers in each for about 15-20 girls. It’s not too bad.

But I do look forward to junior year when I go to the campus apartments with 4 private bedrooms and two bathrooms in each suite. I won’t have to carry my stuff back and forth and I won’t have to wear shower shoes. :)

Seriously, MacTech, 20 towels??? You can use a towel more than once you know. I use each of my 6 towels for 2 days before throwing it in the laundry bag.

Here in my building we’re all taking like 2-3 showers a day because the humidity has been just miserable. We wake up sweating, we sweat while we sit, we sweat while we stand–it’s been horrible (though today was really really nice). We have 4 showers for 30ish guys in our wing (guy wing - girl wing), and I’ve never had to wait.

what is a full shower? how long does it take? and how much water are oyu wasting showering twice a day? we are one spoiled nation who can just use water willy nilly

so you feel sticky, move one…when you are in the real world, going to work, you won’t be able to shower in the middle of the day, so learn to cope

two- three showers a day is a total waste of resources and is pretty selfish if you ask me, not to mention vain

Sometimes you need to shower twice a day. When I was in high school marching band (the East Texas heat+humidity is brutal) I took two showers a day. I also take two a day when I do something outside with my friends (going to the lake, playing a sport at the park or football stadium, help build something, etc.) so I won’t smell/look/feel gross when we do something later that evening.

Lol. I can just imagine someone leaving the office in the middle of the day to take a shower.

I don’t know. I don’t ever feel dirty enough to warrant excessive showering. Even when I work out, I plan to shower after (and only once) so I don’t end up doing two a day. Although I think the hour plus post-shower hair drying process prompts a little more planning than others have to deal with.

Yeah, the marching band people have had it rough here–they were here a week before the rest of us, doing three sessions a day (full rehearsals and sectionals).
