Non-citizen US HS student, help.

<p>Hi guys, I just want to ask if i want to apply to college, how will my process be different from my American classmates? I am currently a F2 visa holder (been that for about 5 years)</p>

<p>A summary is that, I am a good student with loads of AP/honors and good GPA, okay in EC activities (varsity tennis, community service, hobbies with good prospects). </p>

<p>I am currently a sophomore so i want to get ready before the real race starts, for the past several years i thought i would be competing in a pool filled with kids that are around me, apparently that’s not the case.</p>

<p>My questions are:</p>

<p>-Will my accomplishments at my current school, GPA, awards etc matters?
-Will my SAT score be the big determinant, or TOFEL or somet other test?
-Will I still be able to go to good colleges?
-What am I looking at for financial aid options, scholarships?</p>

<p>-What are my chances for good schools like Stanford or Harvard?</p>

<p>yes ur CURRENT GPA VERY MUCH MATTERS.
it is a toss off between sat and tofel. if u have taken ALL the normal english classes at your high school and not esl, then take SAT.
of course you will be able to get into great colleges. it will be harder for some schools like cal berkely, etc. but it won’t matter very much. don’t get discouraged
you are definitley looking at financial aid. unless money is not even a problem, then you will need to look into financial aid. don’t worry about it yet, you will hear more about forms lik FAFSA, etc.
no one has good chance of getting into stanford or harvard.</p>

<p>I’m assuming that you live in the US? Are you registered as a permanent resident? I think those factors can determine whether you are considered an international student or not.</p>
