<p>It will be extremely hard. Especially in this economy. There are enough accountants to go around that it would be insanely hard to get a company to try sponsor you. It’s expensive, involves a lottery more lose than win and just isn’t worth it to most employers unless you have a highly unusual skill/background. Your better chance would be Canada.</p>
<p>Did you do a Master’s in Accounting before passing your CFA? If you are graduating from a master’s program, you are in a different pool of H1B applicants - the U.S. reserves 20,000 slots for applicants with masters degree. This is partially why it’s so much easier for international students to work in an accounting firm in the US, if they graduated from the Master’s program.</p>
<p>I actually think that if you already have a CPA, accounting firms would love you, because they don’t have to spend all the time and money to train you to pass the exam.</p>
<p>There is no difference between a green card holder and a citizen when it comes to employment procedures. The only reason it can be harder is if you don’t interview well because of a language barrier, do not have the appropriate experience, or you aren’t as qualified.</p>
