Non cookie cutter student?

So, I was wondering if I could possibly get into an ivy like Harvard due to the uniqueness of my situation. I was raped at 15, and this caused me to develop PTSD which resulted in me switching to online high school. My extracurriculars are weak, but I am highly artistically talented. The art is what helped me recover from the incident. Not to brag but I am prodigy level (can draw pictures that are mistaken for photographs). When I was in public school I won a series of awards for my art. I am going to submit a few drawings in with my application to showcase my talent. My SAT score is a 2100 (which sucks I know) but I have maintained a 4.0 gpa even after switching to online. I have no AP courses because my school does not offer many but I do take all honors. From what I have heard, Harvard is not looking for cookie cutter students.

No.

@studyandpray if you can perhaps take the SAT again and improve your score, ensure that your art portfolio communicates your skills eloquently and maybe take part in some art competitions, art for charity kind of events and add some more ECs, it will definitely help. colleges do consider your background and how you overcame adversity for sure. a friend of mine was homeless and living on the streets and she got admitted to Yale because despite all that, she did the best she could. don’t be disheartened by negativity. do your best and give it your best. if it works, hey good for you.

I agree with khanam. While your background doesn’t guarantee you admission, you definitely have a shot, like many other applicants. Sorry to hear what happened in your past. Best of luck with colleges!

@studyandpray I think it is possible. Unlikely in the sense that Harvard just has a very low admission rate. But they do have slots for students that might just miss the average stats (and you are not that far off), but if their art faculty finds your talent promising enough, it could be enough. At least worth the try, let’s put it that way.
