Seems like a silly question, but when the form asks to ‘provide any additional information to help us understand your circumstances better’, is it written from the perspective of the student or should the custodial parent write the additional details? The questions asked before this section seems to ask for information that a student wouldn’t normally know like whether the non-custodial parent claimed the student as a dependent or not. So I was wondering if the additional details should be completed by the student or not.
The person who knows the information? You may know more information than your child, especially if the break happened a long time ago. The child may know more about a particular event that caused the end of visitation.
I think more often it is the parent who will have the information, but the student might be able to add something like “I tried to keep in contact, called for two years, wrote multiple letters, but was unable to make contact.”
