Non-Custodial Profile in prison??

I’m a freshman looking to transfer to a private college that’s requiring the CSS profile. The problem is that I’ve never really had contact with my non-custodial parent so he’s also never provided support. I was about to begin the process of trying to get a waiver for the form but now I just learned that he’s been imprisoned so is there a chance that I can get an incarcerated parent to fill out the form??

Ask for the waiver.

Well… that stinks…big time. What a crapy thing to discover.

But, If he’s incarcerated there’s a really good chance he isn’t earning an income or posses any substantial assets, which means more aid for you. In reality, I highly doubt any department of corrections official can compel a reluctant NCP to file the CSS profile. Good dads, the ones who provide consistant care and fincial support for their children, don’t normally end-up convicted criminals. It maybe in your best interest to maintain a healthy distance.

I can’t think of a better reason for awarding a waiver. Best to include all appropriate data i.e. conviction, sentencing date, duration of sentence, state, prison, inmate number etc.
Get past this ASAP and continue to focus on your education.

On the flip side he probably has no income and you know now where he is. It would be a matter of getting him to fill it out. But yes, I’d try for the waivers.
