Non-Engineering Smart Grid/ Green Energy Jobs?

I’m just ending my freshman year in college and I have no idea what I want to do. I have yet to choose a major, although I’d prefer not to do anything science related. I heard a story on NPR about so called ‘smart grid’ jobs the other day and I am curious as to whether such jobs exist for non science majors?

Smart grid is definitely the wave of the future…I think there is going to be a lot of money to be made because a lot of money is going to be spent upgrading the grid. Smart grid is definitely the future…whereas Big Oil has been the best place to make money as an engineer the last hundred years, I think smart grid will be in the future. Engineering is obviously the best opportunity for someone looking to get into smart grid, the only other fields might be econ or things like that…but at that point I would think that an engineer with an economics background would have the upper hand. Utility companies definitely hire money people though, so look into that.
