Non-trad student here

Hi Guys,

I am an incoming first year medical student at University of Toronto (did my first undergrad in molecular biology in Canada as well). I am considering to pursue a second undergrad degree in business while in medical school (in short, similar to the MD-PhD combined stream, I would finish one year of med, then finish my second business undergrad, then come back to finish three years of medicine).

I am wondering whether this is at all possible from college app’s perspective. Do the Ivy Leagues accept non-traditional students who have previously completed an undergrad? Has someone taken a similar non-trad route?

[And yes, I am also considering direct entry to combined MD/MSc or MPH or MBAdegree instead of doing a second undergrad)

Some Ivy Leagues take non-traditional students; Harvard, for better or worse, is not one of them. (The Extension School is not, I think, what you are looking for.) I think Brown might have something that would fit. I’ve also heard that Yale’s Eli Whitney program is the best such thing in the Ivy League.

Harvard does not have an undergraduate business degree program. It offers economics. However, once you have enrolled in any university program, you are no longer eligible to apply to Harvard College for their undergraduate program.

You would have to apply directly to Harvard Business School for the 2 year MBA program.
