Non-Trad transfer to UNC Chapel Hill Rad Sci Program

I am currently a student at Durham Technical Community College. I am hoping to transfer to UNC’s Radiologic Science professional school as a junior in Fall 2014 after I receive my Associate’s in Science from Durham Tech. UNC’s rad sci program only accepts 12 students each fall(!). I cannot find any statistics on how large the applicant pool is, but that tiny class number is giving me some hardcore anxiety as the application process is about to begin in August. Here are my stats:

Graduated high school in 2003.

I was an NC Scholar upon graduation; I think my GPA was 3.5 and I took honors courses, but no AP/IB. Mostly As and Bs, Cs in math courses, failed Honors Physics as a senior because I didn’t care.

I did not take any standardized tests, because I was not planning on attending college.

No ECs. :(

Fast forward to college:

I have a 4.0 GPA, I am an active member of two national academic honor societies (PTK, GBP).

I have over 300 hours of volunteer experience in UNC Hospital’s ER X-ray department and I will continue to volunteer there until I am (hopefully) accepted. I have gained so much knowledge about the rad sci field here already, and i have heard admissions takes that into consideration.

I have attended classes at least half-time since I enrolled; I work 40 hours per week full-time at Duke University and have had this job for 5 years. Received a teamwork award from the university. I must quit my job if I am admitted because I simply cannot be a full time student with clinical rotations while continuing to work full time.

I am married, and my disabled mother lives with me and my husband.

I donate blood to the Red Cross regularly because 2 of my grandparents died of cancer recently, which is also a driving force behind my decision to begin a career in diagnostic medicine.

I have also managed to find the time to lose 30 pounds in the past 8 months.

I know UNC loves a good story, and without going into more detail here, believe I have one to tell.

UNC is the only college i am applying to because it has the only BSRS program in my state. What do you think? Do i have a shot? Any advice?
