So instead of submitting two rec letters from TEACHERS, I was thinking of submitting on from a teacher and the other from my Managing Editor for Odyssey (I’m the Editor-in-Chief for my community). My Managing Editor and I have developed a really good relationship, and she was actually the one who offered to write me a rec letter. FYI, I’m applying to be a communication major at schools like USC (does not accept non-traditional recs, so I will need two teacher recs anyway), NYU, U Miami, Chapman, UGA, FSU, and UF.
Thoughts? Should I go with the teacher rec and non-traditional rec, should I just stick with two teachers, OR should I do two teachers and one non-traditional rec?
The one teacher I have in mind was my sophomore English II Honors teacher (who gave me the academic achievement award for her class) and is my yearbook advisor (10, 11, 12) for which I am editor-in-chief of.
Thanks for your help, and any constructive feedback is welcome!
You can do two teachers (most schools want that)- and any schools that allow additional recs, send the Odyssey rec.
Agreed. If a school wants two letters from your teachers, they want two letters from your teachers, not two letters from whomever you want to send. If the school allows additional recs, and some schools do not, use the non-traditional rec as the extra.
