Non-Traditional Student: Hospital Chaplain

So, my sister is a hospital chaplain. That’s obviously some pretty serious patient contact and experience dealing with death and illness.

However, does patient experience of this nature look bad or good? Neutral? Fantastic because you’re right in the action as part of the “team?” Horrible because it’s in a religious context? She’s applying to med school as a non-traditional student. While working as a chaplain she’s going to enroll in an evening post-bac program and hopefully apply around the age of 27-28.

Thoughts? I apologize if this issue has been addressed. Seems like shifting from hospital chaplain to physician has it’s own set of concerns/benefits.

I can’t think of patient contact experience that would look bad, so yes this is good.

Depending on how she markets herself and to which schools this could be a real jewel.
