Non-traditional Transfer Student w/ a kicker

Hey all,

I’m a non-traditional transfer student, I’ve been out of this game for a couple years while receiving real world management experience, so I desperately need some matching to some top undergrad business schools!

3.91 GPA – 46 credits (presently completing 16 more) from a little known college in Nevada.

I’ve taken all the basic business classes – Econ/Statistics/Calculus/Finite Math/Accounting/Bus Management – and received A’s in all of them.

23, white male

No SAT’s/ACT’s – which most schools I’ve e-mailed tell me not to bother taking them because I’m nearly two years in.

I’m an assistant manager for a railroad company – I’m responsible for roughly a million dollars a year in budgeting (not that big compared to many companies, but I reached this level when I was 20).

Over 100 hours of volunteer work over the last six months at hospitals in Las Vegas

Currently starting my own ticket exchange company, trademarked, in the process of building the site, etc…

I have atleast 3 recs and solid essays

Here’s my little kicker… I have 9 W’s on my college transcripts because of my work schedule (which often exceeded 50-60 hours per week) was constantly getting changing as I progressed up the ladder in my company. Otherwise I would’ve transferred as a typical 20 year old. I can provide my time cards and anything I need for the proof of this, I typically didn’t have a chance to step a single foot in any of these dropped classes.

So, what would my best match schools be, guru’s?

Also, is there anything you ladies/gents would recommend I do to improve my chances?

Thank You!

Let’s try a chance with these schools, any help guys?

Boston University
Boston College
WUSTL
Columbia
Georgetown
Cornell
Yale
Harvard

I realize the last two are nearly impossible for anyone…

First of all CSN is well known as it is one of the top five largest CC’s in the country and has articulation histories with universities all over! Second of all I wonder if I know you? I’m transferring out of csn after this semester and I’ve told a number of people recently to hop on collegeconfidential for transfer ideas.

I’ll chance you anyway:

BU - In easily. Consider Northeastern also as their program is a bit better and you’d get in there too if you’re looking at Boston.
WUSTL/BC/Gtown/Cornell - In/waitlist (I was waitlisted at gtown last year with the same gpa and twice as many credits)

Out of that list I’d apply to all of the above with BU and one other for a safety with wustl/bc/gtown/cornell as your target reaches. Keep in mind Cornell also requires a two-biology course series so you’d have to have taken bio 189 + whatever comes right after it. BC requires 4 years of foreign language to be completed while there as well.

Columbia/Yale/Harvard have no business undergrad program and all require sat/act, even for transfers.

In regards to your W’s, that is a lot of them. That really throws a big what-if into the situation and I don’t think anyone other than the admissions rep at each school could tell you what that means but make sure to explain it thoroughly in your applications somewhere.
