Nontraditional student . . . do I have to take the SAT again?

<p>I took the SAT back in 1997; do I have to take it again to get into college? I don’t remember the numerical score, but I got a 99% on the English section and somewhere in the mid-80s on the math section, so I’d rather not retake it if I don’t have to.</p>

<p>You more than likely will have to retake it, because most colleges require your writing score.</p>

<p>Bah, that sucks. What about the SAT vs. the ACT? Do colleges expect you to have taken both? I don’t think I ever took the ACT at all.</p>

<p>They expect you to take one or the other. Some schools will accept only the SAT, some will accept the SAT + 2 subject tests, and others will accept only the ACT as a substitute for any SAT tests.</p>

<p>The people who take both typically find that the ACT is much easier.</p>

<p>Did you actually take any college classes? If so, look at the rules for applying as a transfer student. (Or, if you want to go back to your first school, the rules for applying for readmission.) I haven’t had to take any standardized tests again.</p>

<p>On the other hand, if this is going to be your first time at college, I would expect you to need current scores.</p>

<p>Right now I’m taking courses at a local community college and looking at transfering to a 4-year after my AAS is complete.</p>
