Hi, I’m applying for the Nordstrom scholarship for juniors this year and was wondering why you’re asked to list 3 institutions/colleges? How does this factor into their decision process or reflect upon the applicant? If anyone has any experience with it, that would be great.

Thanks so much!

just make sure your whole story hangs together. For instance, if you say you want to pursue engineering, make sure you list great engineering schools, not liberal arts. Don’t think of your application as pieces of information, think of it as a narrative, These organizations want to invest in kids that are going somewhere. YOu accomplishments to date are most valuable when then demonstrate how they are building a foundation for your future. Avoid the scorecard mentality. But to answer your question, of course that schools you list matter. Don’t list an Ivy if you are not Ivy material, Don’t list third rate schools either.

Wow, thank you for the great response! Will definitely keep in mind all your answers when I’m applying. Thanks again!
