UF is quite a bit more challenging to be admitted for an OOS student. Florida public universities must admit at an 85% in state to 15% out of state rate. I believe that is for the whole public university system, so it doesn’t have to be even amongst all of them

“ There were 51,207 applications for admission into the Gator Class of 2025. Only 15,431 or 30% of that group were accepted. It is important to note that it is far more difficult to gain acceptance to this university if you are not a Florida resident. In-state students were accepted at a 59% clip. That same cycle, those from out-of-state only gained acceptance at a rate of 19%. Clearly, the UF acceptance rates are far lower for non-residents.”

It is not more challening. That comes from admissions officers there. The 15% applies to the overall state university system, and most of the other univiersitys in the system pick up the slack for the bigger schools like UF to admit as many OOS as are qualified. Last year, the number qualified at the same level as instate was 19% because many OOS people apply without a test score (not allowed) or don’t understand just how competitive it is. The fact is, they need OOS because in state is so cheap.

From an archived page on their former admissions blog:
3. “Getting into UF is more difficult for out-of-state students.”
Nope. We have absolutely no preference for in-state vs. out-of-state students. The percentage of out-of-state students in the freshman class has been 15 to 17% over the last few years, which aligns with the rate of out-of-state applications received (vs. in-state).

Still there for us unfortunately but would not be surprised to be deferred tomorrow.

CS intent but still can’t log in

We are OOS. In FL. Daughter’s withdrawal button was gone when we checked yesterday afternoon and we are middle of the alphabet. She hasn’t tried the MyPack Portal. She said she can wait another day.
UF is very difficult for in state students lately to get in also. I agree, they need the OOS Tuition. There doesn’t seem to be much rhyme or reason as to who gets accepted.

Withdraw button is still there. Another for the books lol

1/30 is still the official thing that they will say because they want to have a cushion in case something goes wrong tomorrow. It’s actually pretty common for schools to do that.

Agree, but find debriefing type meetings odd when not willing/able to share actual data yet. Made me curious of the context of these meetings, I know they’re common.

DS is able to log in and see the portal but doesn’t have a button to make a payment and the withdraw button is still there. What to make of that??

Give it an hour. It took a while for the payment button to populate for me after I logged in for the first time.

Withdrawal button disappeared for us in the past 2 hours. In state, last name towards end of alphabet.

Did you try to set up the account?

His account is already set up. He didn’t need to do anything. It looks like a portal for an enrolled student but he has played around with it and there isn’t any action for him to take. He can also go to his regular portal and there is a button to withdraw his application at the bottom.

There is a different account that you can see official acceptance in early. You are talking about the admission portal.

He followed the hack and it’s the portal that looks like the screenshot with all of the tabs. If he clicks on student accounts there is a welcome message but not an admission letter.

Guys, what’s the rush - just wait until tomorrow!! I worry that this is causing even more nerves when people are unable to figure out the hack.
