North Myrtle Beach SC

Hi - we are slowly working our way through various areas we might consider for a 2nd home/retirement home - and North Myrtle Beach is next on the list. Would like to visit this spring. Anyone familiar? Any recommendations on where to stay? Oceanfront preferred. Any attractions we should check out? Thanks.

I’ve stayed twice at Sea Watch and once at Mar Vista Grande. Mar Vista was newer in the units themselves, but there were 2 pools and hot tubs, etc. at the other.

Broadway at the Beach and Barefoot Landing are open area shops and restaurants. We enjoyed strolling around both.

Pier 14 is a fun place to eat in Myrtle Beach area for something different.

Thanks!

I would read TripAdvisors for these. It’s been since 2003 since I was at Sea Watch and 2009 since Mar Vista…that one was fairly new, though.

I am looking there also, just seems to be more condo/resorts rather than chains we are comfortable with - Marriott, .hilton, Omni, etc., so I was wondering.

I have a really good friend who lives in Longs. It’s north of Myrtle Beach. Her house is very nice. Lots of variety of free standing homes, and condos there.

It’s on our short list too.

We’ve been leaning towards Hilton Head, but have friends who recently bought new construction in a large planned community in North Myrtle Beach - less expensive and they love it. So, we will check it out.
