Northeastern Admitted Students Day

What should I expect from admitted students day and does it help a lot with choosing whether to attend or not? I was accepted NU.in exploratory studies with interests in business, entrepreneurship, and engineering. Admitted students day will be difficult for me to attend, and I’ve already been on a campus tour and enjoyed the campus. I was wondering if the admitted students day gives a lot of extra information to help me make my decision. Thanks!

I thought you said Northeastern at $96k was off the table. Undecided/Business - Penn State [$56k] vs Purdue [$43k] vs Rutgers [$37k] vs Northeastern [$96k, NU.in] [parent contribution <$50k]
I would focus on your excellent affordable options.

I qualify for some local scholarships so if I win enough it would be more than doable. I just want to know if the admitted student’s day gives good perspective to the school.

personally, i don’t think you will get a lot out of admitted students day if you have already toured the campus- unless you have new questions that you want to directly ask a representative about certain programs or talk to other students (esp. those who’ve gone through NU.in). You could ask them how their transition back to Boston was like. i have heard good and bad anecdotes on that. Otherwise, any subjective/touchy-feely questions will likely get a typical “Northeastern rocks!” answer from most folks. I say this as a parent whose son goes to Northeastern and went through NU.in (Spain) and we attended an April admitted students day before he made his final decision.

Admitted students days vary from college to college. At some it is almost a rehash of a typical tour, but at other colleges you can sit in on classes, talk to students in your area of interest, tour dorms, etc.

I would expect you’d have specific questions about the nu.in program – the program options, how the transition to campus is handled, how dorms/scheduling are handled, etc. Would your program and associated questions be covered in accepted students day?

I would try and see if there is an agenda for the day’s events (or even ask admissions if one is available) to get a sense of if it is worth making an effort to attend.
