Northeastern Class of 2029 Official RD Thread

This is the official discussion thread for Northeastern Class of 2029 RD applicants. Ask your questions and connect with fellow applicants.

Does anyone have a sense when decision will be out? Looks like last year it was mid march.

Based on past data from the last few years (although past doesn’t always mean the same in the present), my prediction is March 12th, around 9PM ET (6PM PT). I’ve been analyzing and collecting data to predict college decision dates and times for the colleges I applied to.

Last year RD released at 7 pm eastern (4 pm PT). See here and here.

Wed March 12 seems like a good prediction.

Northeastern used to be very predictable as to when and how decisions were released. The last couple of years a lot has changed though. EA and ED decisions used to be released in waves over several hours. Now they are released in one batch around 7 PM ET.

Is there any portal astrology for RD from last year?

I checked and I dont see any post that talk about portal astrology, plz update if anyone sees changes to their portals

Decisions prob come out on Wednesday so I was doinng a lot of searching for portal astrology and found this " A poster on other forum claims that if you were admitted, Northeastern sets up an email address which you could check to see if it is active. Supposedly you can check to see if it is a live, real Northeastern student email. Not the Admissions portal email address which is usually your gmail email address. The format is LASTNAME.INITIALOFFIRSTNAME, so it would look like Swift.T@Northeastern.edu if Taylor Swift were admitted.

mine allows me to log up until password, plz lmk if it does the same for u guys

How do you check to see if the email is active?

i logged in through here

also if u click this link Student and Alumni Accounts – Accounts
go to forgot password, and sign in through that email u can see Not 100% tho

Im seeing that both say “This username may be incorrect. Make sure you typed it correctly. Otherwise, contact your admin.

I read through the forum and apparently committed athletes tried this and the email didn’t work. It would make sense for emails to be pre made for ED admits since they’re guaranteed to go there but I don’t know if it makes sense that this would work RD

Worth a try but - I find it suspect that with over 40k undergrad and grad students the username could simply be Lastname.firstinitial

That would not make much sense as there would have to be duplicates.

do we think decisions will come out tmr??

There have been no portal changes for us. In each thread for northeastern there’s always changes the day before which makes me think it will be next Wednesday

I don’t see that in last year’s RD thread. The post immediately before one talking about release says

Though I didn’t look back very far.

Interesting. For EA I remember there was a lot of speculation and portal stuff happening

hellooo! I applied for nu.in as my first choice, would that kind of help my chances as I am on the lower side. I did do it as I wanted to study abroad for the first sem lol. Im unsure of how this works

I think so. I believe I have heard that those granted NU in they aren’t counted as admitted allowing them to keep acceptance rates low and I don’t know if your data is even added to the first year profile, I have taken the same steps and also put my preferred campus as Oakland since I’m in CA although I do now regret not putting Boston for second choice since I feel like there are co-op programs there I don’t know or see much info about Oakland. But yeah, if we get NU. in, we spend a semester I’ve heard usually at their Oakland or London campuses and then next semester we attend their mainstream Boston campus going forward.

Edit: But also keep in mind if you need a lot of financial aid, it seems NU in as I hear from Reddit from current/former students are more targeted to upper middle and upper financial status students who can afford to go and aren’t willing to pay a bit more for the experience and opportunity to attend Northeastern.
