Northeastern Early Action / Early Decision for Fall 2024 Admission

Agreed. It makes sense, but was still hoping to hear otherwise. I mean, what else are we supposed to do while we wait but engage in baseless speculation?

A poster on other forum claims that if you were admitted, Northeastern sets up an email address which you could check to see if it is active. Supposedly you can check to see if it is a live, real Northeastern student email. Not the Admissions portal email address which is usually your gmail email address. The format is LASTNAME.INITIALOFFIRSTNAME, so it would look like Swift.T@Northeastern.edu if Taylor Swift were admitted.

Can you please state the source?
Given that NEU has had a yield of around 33% typically, that’s a lot of emails to create just for admitted students. It would make sense to create one for admitted students however.

I meant that’s a lot of email addresses to create for accepted students.

For common names, it may be hard to check. Like John Smith
 Smith.J@Northeastern.edu
Thoughts?

How do you check if it is a live email address?

Curious, did you check this yourself? And did it work for you, i.e. did it recognize your email?

It looks like the poster had a link to a login portal through a reply from the financial aid office. But if you follow the how to reset a northeastern student email password, you would click:

https://accounts.northeastern.edu/student-and-alumni-accounts/

then select “Under existing Account holders”, “change password”

that brings you to a page where you would login as a Northeastern student. You can then select “forgot password”

once clicked when you use the lastname.firstnameinitial brings up a page that will show your northeastern portal email address (eg, your gmail address) and a northeastern.edu email address.

Mine does let me change the portal email address password, as well as the northeastern.edu email address password.

That may not be indicative of anything. Maybe Northeastern sets up xxxxxx@northeastern.edu email addresses for every applicant.

Sounds sketchy, at best. Curious is anyone has any luck with it, tho.

We got an error message that says does not recognize the email address.

Under password management from the login page, when you select “Password Reset” for Students/Alumni and Family/Other, that is the page where you enter your email address of Swift.T@Northeastern.edu.

We get an error message so if you don’t, maybe there is something to it; because it’s not working for all applicants.

do we think ed decisions will come out today? I don’t feel very hopeful since the january 1st is new

Maybe it does not mean anything. From this page, if you enter your username as Swift.T, it should bring up your portal email address and your Northeastern.edu email address. Your username will be LASTNAME.FIRSTNAMEINITIAL, eg, Swift.T

Keep in mind that for some common names, the initial might be more than one character, so eg, Swift.Ta

My name is not that common, so just eg Lastname.initial returns a working email address.

So when you enter your myNortheastern Username it will bring up the page that shows you your portal email address and your Northeastern.edu email address

This did not work for me either.

It works for me, but I wouldn’t assume anything. It could just be another student that shares the same last name and first initial as you.

It worked for me, trying to remain calm, deep breath

we don’t know when they will announce, they could still be creating them, or they created for all, or who knows! but thanks for sharing!
