Northeastern Early Action / Early Decision for Fall 2024 Admission

Third hand information. Ignore it.

Reddit is about as reliable as the MBTA.

Does anyone know if having the financial aid as “awaiting” could affect decisions? FAFSA is not open yet right…
the rest has been submitted over a month ago, but still not showing up
also, CSS is in.

I ran out of time and had to hang up after being on hold after trying to ascertain if ED1 decisions are now set to be released on January 1.

It could be that Northeastern is accumulating as many ED2 applications as possible before they choose from their ED1 pool. That only works in force if they give a decision after the Christmas holiday.

I called last week because I was concerned that it said it was awaiting my CSS Profile, though I knew that had been submitted long ago. They told me not to worry about it, Of note, the site says it has received our Fed Tax Returns and W2 forms.

ok thanks

Thanks for the efforts.
I think the ed1 number should be planned /budgeted ahead of time, not relevant with ed2. I still believe it is because of the workload causing the delay. Considering campus options, financial aid, etc. Too many moving parts to lock the number. If everyone chose no fa, all campuses, that would be a super easy job for them.

This thought is very depressing. I do not want to compared to a pool of Ivy League rejects in ED2.
Future applicants will really think twice before applying ED1 if NEU does this.
Is it even ethical to compare ED1 to ED2 pool applicants?

The only one who suggested it was an anonymous poster.

No way is this what they are doing.

So the dumb Reddit post was deleted. I do hope that the university is getting a gazillion phone calls because they can so simply solve the problem by just announcing the actual decision release date like many colleges do.

Actually I double checked with the school college counselor- it can be done- to apply now to the ED2 school while waiting for Northeastern ED1 decision- then we would know by Jan 1, and can rescind the ED2 application if accepted to Northeastern ED1.

Deep breath everyone - “by January 1” isn’t the same as “on January 1”. The best thing you can do is if you have a ED2 choice is to prepare the application and have it complete and ready for submission - good on you if you never have to submit it, ready at the starting line if you do. 500 phone calls from applicants is not going to make this any easier, faster, or accurate.

Breathe deep, finish the semester strong and be patient.

For what it’s worth, I called the admissions office today.
The person there was polite, pleasant and stuck to the script. Said that the decision could come out any day between now and Jan 1 and that we will be notified via email. Offered no other information as expected.

I sincerely hope that works out for you. I hope we all hear the best news on ED1, which makes all this moot. As for me, I’ll just wait it out for ED1 to come in and keep my powder dry in what I hope is the supremely unlikely event I’ll need it for ED2.
Best of luck, everyone

This means checking the portal every day several times between 7-7:30 PM EST.

they’ll send an email, yes? or do you think portal will update first?

I would think the portal is updated first but not sure.

Great to confirm the dumb Reddit post was bogus. Thank you!

Another Reddit poster today said that decisions are “definitely” coming out this week according to her college counselor who is in touch with a admission rep. Even if this is a bogus claim(highly likely since it’s Reddit) I hope it’s true!
