D24 accepted to NUin instead of Boston campus. She was thrilled to be accepted to NE but worried NUin wouldn’t help with the transition to college. After looking into it more, she’s not so worried about that. She’s already heard back from all her EA schools (accepted) so just waiting on RD schools to so she can consider all her options.
Does anyone know when the NUin 2024 country options will be released?
I know… but… when is this do we think?
Financial Aid Q: if the FAFSA calculated SAI or the old EFC is higher than the COA from NEU, will they still provide some aid $? Anyone has prior experience? Contrary to what FAFSA might suggest, we do need help. Thank you, friends.
Did you run the NPC before applying? If you are not divorced or run your own business that should be pretty accurate of what aid you might expect from NU.
Thanks for the question. Actually I did not do that prior to applying. Just ran it through, the estimate is lower than FAFSA but still too high for us. Thx again.
Portugal and the Czech republic look new if I’m not mistaken.
Fyi…Prague and Lisbon were options last year. Florence is gone. Maybe Scotland is new?
Anyone have insight on which locations might offer more opportunities to interact with locals, espevially students?
London is gone too for NUin. Prob filled up with their global scholars and London scholars programs.
Curious what locations have what majors. Looks like it can only be seen in the portal?
Czech Republic has been around for a few years.
Scotland too has been around for a few years.
Unless the student has knowledge of the local language, that would be limited. Scotland and Ireland would not have the language barrier.
Thanks. It seems like the programs are mostly stand-alone programs, not taking classes at a foreign university. Am i understanding that correctly? Some seem to be hosted at universities (paris, rome, maybe ireland) but these are universities that only serve visiting students? Are any of the programs co-located with institutions that serve local students?
Im trying to understand if it will be an immersive cultural experience or more of an extended tourist trip with classes.
The Ireland, Northern Ireland and Scotland locations use domestic universities where NU In students would be visiting students. The other locations are, I believe, US based international schools with students from many schools and countries, but few locals.
Thanks so much!
So my daughter and engineering major accepted for NU in program only has greece and ireland as choices. Anyone know why? that is very limiting
My understanding from reading about the NU.in program last year is that each site has a limited selection of classes. Some sites will have the classes necessary for first semester art students, other sites will have the classes for first semester business students, and still others have the classes for first semester engineering students.
Because the classes for engineering are so regimented and build on each other, there is less flexibility about what is taken first semester. And because those classes tend to be specialized and people in other majors are not that likely to take them, the engineering classes are available at fewer sites.
Another issue to consider that came up for some students last year: if you come in with credits from AP or DE there might not be any site where you can make progress toward your degree (except for any gen ed reqs) because the classes offered are usually only the first (and maybe second) in the sequence for math & physics. If you have credits for those, you’ll have to wait until back in Boston to move along the progression.

Do you think there is any chance to appeal the NU in program for fall Boston admission? Her mid year grades were stellar and she will have many credits going in from AP scores.
