Ha, I came here to start a topic but it’s in the same realm as this post so I’ll just respond.
My daughter added Northeastern to her Early Action list because we got an email telling us the application fee was being waived. Great! Why not?
A week later her portal tells her she needs to do this grade form you’re talking about PLUS for CADM she needs to submit three additional 500-word essays.
She’s a great writer and frankly she can use material she has already developed elsewhere, so it won’t be a huge burden. But to your point, why are they doing things this way? In order to boost application numbers while expecting many, many applicants to not follow through and end up as unserious applicants. Which in turn will increase the number of rejections in order to boost “selectivity.”
Just playing the rankings game. Kinda lame and insecure, if you ask me.
My assumption for new NEU grading/coursework forms is due to more schools are moving to SRAR type process to help standardize classes/grades structure for admissions review vs. variations seen with high school transcripts. I helped my twins both fill out. Yes, burdensome but felt not as bad as SRAR forms. Seems new this cycle.
The SRAR schools usually do not want you to send official transcripts. I think NEU wants official transcripts and Course/Grade forms if I read the instructions correctly.
Hey! Anyone know if you get an email before your ED decision comes out? I know decisions normally come out in the early evening, so I’ll probably get an email then, but will I also get one the morning of telling me my decision is coming out that day? Thanks!!
