Northeastern Financial Aid for Transfer Students?

Hey guys! I am currently a sophomore Communication major at Boston College, but I’ve been considering a transfer to Northeastern for the Co-Op program.

I’ve gotten a considerable amount of aid from BC, and I’d need about the same, the same, or more than the same amount of aid from Northeastern as I’d get if I stayed at BC. According to US news, Northeastern meets, on average, 80.5% of need, while BC supposedly meets 100%. That said, BC costs $20-25,000 more that NU.

So my question is whether or not Northeastern extends the same promise of aid to transfer students as students coming in freshman year? Or is it a case by case basis?

Also, does anyone know how difficult it is to get into NU as a transfer coming in as a 3rd year? My GPA is currently a 3.55, but that’s with all A’s and one B+ and one C+ that’s bringing it down. Any insight would be greatly recommended!

Most likely admitted. The total cost of BC (before aid) is only a few thousand more than BC, NOT $20,000-$25,000 more. Northeastern promises to meet 100% of (their determination) of need for freshmen. They have not stated if this offer is extended to transfers.

http://www.northeastern.edu/oir/pdfs/CDS%202014-15.pdf Section H2 shows you are both right. They meet 100% of need for freshman. Apparently not beyond that. Only 2285/6527 of all undergrads had their need met. I would guess they don’t treat transfers too well.

No school treats transfers well in terms of financial aid

Make your own coop program and stay at BC.
