I said no to this program but I got accepted into it, I guess that’s ok because I can go to the school!

I’m off to a previously booked social engagement (honestly rude of Northeastern to release decisions without consulting) but I’ll try to answer any questions people post tomorrow so check back then if it’s still relevant! Good luck everyone and congrats to all accepted!

Congratulations to those who have been accepted.

A few things to know. Last year my very high stat, great EC’s, and recommendations son got accepted EA with a 20k/yr Dean’s scholarship. No honors. There were people with lower stats that got a higher Dean’s scholarship and/or honors. I emailed admissions because I was curious as to how they made this decision. Just like admissions, merit aid and honors are a holistic process. My guess with my son is that he had no leadership roles and that lowered his merit aid and denied him honors. Both he and I could care less about the honors, but boy more merit aid would have been nice!

Last year, I think the highest non-National Merit Semifinalist (NMSF) merit award was 28k. I believe NMSF max was 30k (I could be wrong with these numbers, but they are close). The language on their website for NMSF was up to 30k, so some got less.

@oreomollykona I don’t know if the Hispanic Scholar award works the same way, but it is possible that you can get up to 33k, but are not guaranteed.

Good luck to those who were deferred. For those who did not get in, I hope you find a place where you are happy and thrive!
