I’ve heard of the Claremont Consortium and the Atlanta Consortium and the Tri-College Consortium in PA. I just received an email inviting us to the Northwest 5 Consortium.
This includes Lewis & Clark, Puget Sound, Reed, Whitman, and Willamette. I researched four of the schools last year but never heard of a consortium among them. Is this a new thing? And for the sake of curiosity, are there other consortiums (consortia?) out there?
Consortia can exist to further active collaboration and to create student exchange opportunities, or, under a looser interpretation, may simply help similar colleges market themselves in a cohesive way. Traditional collegiate consortia, most notably, offer cross-registration privileges without tuition adjustments. With further research, you will see which of these elements apply to the Northwest 5.
