What do people know?

It saddens me to see questions unanswered. It may be that nobody understands exactly what you are asking.

I’m looking to get recruited, what do people know of their program? Any tips? Is there anything specific to their athletic program? I’m going to a camp this summer, should I notify the camp I’m coming? I don’t want to make a big deal that I’m going, and then have a bunch of added pressure and just be a “let-down” …? I guess I’m just really nervous about the entire thing :/

It depends on the sport, too. Look at their roster and see how you compare to the current athletes.

mysterybabe3x,

Yes, absolutely send the coach a note with your qualifications. Don’t be shy about it.

If you really want to get recruited, you need to stand out and let them know you are interested in their program. I’m not saying dye your hair purple. I am saying tell the coach why you want to go to Northwestern, and why you are qualified to be a student-athlete at the school. You need to try to develop a communication with the coach before you go to the camp and after you go to the camp. The same goes with any school you are interested in. Tell them why you are interested in their school, your qualfifications and then follow up.

Recruited = passion + skill + exposure + persistence + luck

We have a friend on the Northwestern golf team. He loves the school and is very happy there other than the weather as he is a california kid.
