does anyone know the anticipated competitiveness of NU’s new dual-degree program for Medill and SESP?

Iirc, I don’t think that you can apply directly into the dual degree program — I think you have to apply to either Medill or SESP first. However, while Medill is their highest ranked and most competitive school, their advising department works very hard to ensure that double majors or triple majors are easily accessible.

As long as you didn’t apply directly into Medill for your first year, I would imagine that you would probably have a good chance.

I didn’t say that! I just said Medill was hard to get into because of how many people apply to NU exclusively for their journalism program. I think everyone has a chance : )
