Northwestern Engineering transfer to Stanford?

Hey guys,

I am not very happy with Northwestern and I’m wondering about my chances for transferring to Stanford and also some details. I’m a chemical engineering freshman. My current GPA at Northwestern is 4.0, and I’ll be done with more than 2/3 of my bachelor degree after my sophomore year (when I plan to transfer somewhere). I have been taking 5 classes per quarter (regular load is 4 classes, 5 is considered overload). I’m also currently set to start undergraduate research next Fall, so I will be able to get a recommendation from my research adviser (who is also the professor of the organic chemistry class I got the second highest grade in, so he might be able to say something about my academics). I don’t have any EC’s here except for a community service club.

I was wondering if anyone transferred into Stanford engineering, or if anyone knows how hard it is. And for anyone who has transferred, if there was any problem with transferring the credits.

Thanks a lot!

if you don’t mind me asking, why aren’t you happy with northwestern? transferring into stanford is incredibly difficult…they take only like 20 students/year and most of them are non-traditional transfers (ie. not from one top university to another). i’d say your best shot would be for grad school.

For fall of 2008, about half of the transfers accepted to S were from CCs or non-traditional. For 2009, one NT reported that they had been accepted on the Stanford Transfer thread, outside of that, I haven’t seen any other information on the composition of the transfer class. I’m not trying to imply in any way that it’s easy to transfer from a top school, I just didn’t like the generality of “most” as it’s not really accurate.
