yea I got the email notification March 26th and then I got the letter in the mail yesterday

same here - nothing yet. i am kind of bracing myself for a rejection mainly b/c i haven’t heard anything.

although the MCAT is waived, in your 2nd or 3rd year of med school, you have to take a test like the MCAT to make sure you are staying on task.

got the rejection letter today in the mail.

for the HPME, do we have to maintain a 3.0 or a 3.2? i have heard different things from different people

Those who got in, post stats please.

when I was at my interview, during the lunch I asked the gpa question and they both said 3.5 for both sci an overall

I’m in too! Sorry for the late post.

btw. Carlili, how does the GPA on a 6 point scale work?

Carili- wow what made you stand out so much i mean im sure u did something in the essays or the interviews that made you stand out because i dont mean any offense but those scores are very standard. So what made you stand out? unless maybe im wrong?

I second Paki786’s last post… how did you get in carlili? (no offense meant, whatsoever)

Maybe some bribes under the table…? lol… jkjk

angad>>> On a 6.0 scale, an A in an honors or AP class is a 6, and a B in an honors or AP class is a 5. An A in a regular class is a 5, and a B in a regular class is a 4 ect.

angad and paki>>> As far as my standardized test scores go…If you think about it, what’s more important? 4 years of grades or a score from a 3 hour test. Students on this forum seem to place more emphasis on ACT scores than GPA which I believe is a mistake. I think the caliber of my school and the difficulty of the classes I have taken really stood out. When Marianne Green interviewed me, the first thing she said was how challenging my school is and how impressive my grades are. She said that HPME students need to be able to handle the rigorous course load, and standardized test scores can’t really show that an applicant can handle the school work that will face them when coming to Northwestern. I believe that the interviews went well (except maybe for the one with the fourth year medical school student, he asked me weird questions) and my essays and medical experiences were strong.

i agree with carlili, my sat1 scores were definitely not in the top range… i would agree that gpa is a lot more important. plus, you have to realize that almost every student applying to top colleges take prep classes for SAT; thus, really, SATs only measure how well you were prepped (most of the time). GPA measures your committment and overall ability to perform well.

Hey are you accepted guys for sure going to HPME or are you waiting for the ivies to come out?

Carili- yeeah i do agree with you on that. Another question…are those the only ECs you did? and what rank were you in your schoool?

as far as the courseload, how many APs did you take?
and what other programs did you get into?

well, carlili4190, thanks for answering my question. I do agree with you, wholeheartedly.

Maybe I’ll see you next year at NW (I’m still deciding where to go). Did you get in under Weinberg, CSD, or BME? I got in as CSD, but am thinking about changing to Weinberg. Any advice?

hey carlili4190…does hinsdale central not have a physical education/gym class?

or do you guys have “honors” gym in addition to ur AP curriculum?

cuz the 5.96 / 6.00 is pretty crazy, how’d you do it?
