Northwestern HPME Part 1

i did mine by paper, but i didn’t get a card back (even though i put a stamp on it, addressed, it, etc. and sent it in). I didn’t get an online confirmation either. ??

perhaps you should call them, meadle

no, i think it’s okay, because they sent a letter for an interview…??
how weird.

well, mine didn’t get delivered (dated the 9th), bounced back to admissions office, and only today i was notified for an interview… talk about time delays…

For those people who have received interview notifications, where do you live? Or do they send out notifications at different times (dates on the letters different)?

i live in arizona

Thanks, what was the date that was labeled on your letter because the other person had the 9th on his. I am just getting mixed info about how they send it out.

hey, this is my first post

Actually, I was just wondering what people thought of my stats. I’ve read some stuff around here and it seems people give encouraging comments soooo… I’ll shoot away. HPME is my top for straight med schools above Bac/MD and PLME

I got the HPME card thingy already too…

those are some impressive accomplishments I must say, according to what I see you definitely seem like the type of kid who should get an interview, as long as you perform well in the interview you should be fine

my question to you is…

i never know what doing well in an interview is. I normally feel accomplished after interviews but i dont know if that means i did “well”

could you explain your defination of, as some people call it, nailing an interview?
thanks

I would say doing well in this type of interview is being very convincing with respect to why you want to be a doctor. You want to give them really good reasons for choosing the medical profession and back it up by talking about how your experiences made you want to pursue medicine, dont say that you were inspired by something like greys anatomy. They are basically looking to see that you have done your homework and are making an educated choice. As long as you feel that you were relaxed, spoke in a down-to-earth, friendly manner, and conveyed all of the reasons that you planned to convey, you probably did “well.” Also, you can look for body language from the interviewer. He or she will typically give a positive facial expression or response when you are doing well. Finally, the sheet that the HPME interviewer is filling out has a space at the end for an overall score out of 10. Some interviewers finish filling out the sheet by the time the interview is over so you might be able to sneak a peek at what your score was. Hope this helps.

When is the latest time the interview notification will be sent?

im not sureee

i’m so nervous, i haven’t heard anything back yet. although it seems logical since i just send back my rec letter one week ago…but i wish i knew something by now.

haha sakuragirl, all of us share your sentiments

haha, it turns out I DID actually get an acknowledgemnt card - my dad gave it to me today, so i’m not sure whether it came a while ago and got lost in my house, or just came today. the card is stamped “Dec 28” by the HPME people…

meadle24390, if your card was stamped Dec 28 and you already got notified for an interview, and my card was also stamped Dec 28 and I didn’t get notified about an interview…I didn’t get the interview, that would probably be a safe assumption right?

because they’re supposedly going by the date that they received it

maaaaaaybe they did it by location? i dun think anyone’s outta it till like mid-february

any ideas if, since beginning admission can largely be based on stats, one B through out high school would be a large obstacle?
