Northwestern HPME Part 1

Ok. I am taking SAT 1 in December. I took the old SAT once in 2005 and got 1440. Can I send the HPME card anyway since I noticed they wanted ACT with writing. I am worried. And my school does not rank. Another weird thing. Is it ok for me to try out with the Card.
Please cc people, your advice is needed

i had the same type of questions before i sent in my card…
so i called the admissions office
she recommended sending in the card as soon as possible and updating it with more information (if needed) by calling their number
as for ranking, my school doesn’t rank either, so i just put n/a
hope that helps…

Starrymood thanks. Since I am taking the new SAT exam in December, the results will come out after Dec 1. Is that alright to update the results after dec 1 deadline?

Regarding ranking, my high school didn’t rank so I just guesstimated by percentile and submitted that. worked out for me.

what’s the minimum science GPA for current HPME students? Did they raise it to a 3.5? (jonthelin?)

Is it true that they dont give financial aid to HPME students? That is scary to dish out 50k each for 7 yrs.

um if i made a mistake filling out the hpme paper application…what should i do?

its not that big of a deal but id really like to change it (it was the order i put my activities in…i didnt see the thing that said most important first)

also do i HAVE to put all of my sat ii scores on there or can i just put math ii and chem

(btw have you ever heard of anyone getting an interview with 700 chem and 750 math ii??)

ok that was a lot of questions…sorry…but id really appreciate answerss!

jonthelin, wht is guesstimated by percentile?

whynot123:
I know people IN hpme with less than a 700 chem and 750 math sat II scores, so I wouldn’t stress too much.

really? that gives me hope  thanks

regarding guesstimating: I estimated that I was in the top 2% of my class so that’s what I wrote.

regarding GPA: 3.2 sciences 3.0 overall

or you can just write that your school doesn’t rank…it’s going to be weird to guess your rank because on your secondary school report, your counselor is going to put “do not rank”.

Another question,
Under the SAT subject tests column, there is a title Others…with blanks to list out other tests we have taken. Should I just put other SAT subject tests tht I have taken here or can I list out my AP exam grades or such as well?

I have some problem calculating my GPA. How accurate must the GPA be on the card? I only calculated my GPA for senior year. Must I calculate in beginning from freshman year too? I really took some weird classes in 9th grade. And it is a really a tedious process calculating everything.

What do u get the card in the MAIL?>
i jsut printed mine off the computer… but it comes out all messed up because A4 paper isn’t long enough…

am i doing sth wroong?!?! :frowning: :frowning: please help

and do u have to pay to submit this card?

babeephat, no u dont have to pay. And I had exactly the same problem with printing the card. I adjusted the printing properties, scaled it down, make the print fit the paper. I haven’t posted it yet since I have problems filling it out (:

Thanks, SkyGirl!

Oh one more question:
-Do we need to send the SAT/ACT scores from the website? Or will our writing down the scores be sufficient for the request card?

&& SkyGirl, I don’t think it has to be other SAT II tests. I think you can just put ur AP or IB tests if you have taken them because it’s under the title “Test.”

And I assume the guesstimation of GPA will be allright, but I would check with your counselor if it’s not too much work

babeexphat,
writing down the scores will be sufficient for the card! I cant believe I will be sending the card so late! Have u sent out the card yet? GPA, ranking all tht is getting me in a dizzy and I have a SAT to study for in a week (:
