Northwestern HPME Part 1

it’s end of jan

OMG! I just got a call  Interview next week Jan 29 at 10 am. Woot woot.

Congratulations.
Does anyone know if that means they will notify everyone within the next day or so?
Also, do they notify either way, or just if you get an interview?

Thanks. I have no idea how they are notifying. He did say though that I am having the interview so soon because I’m close to chicago (2 hr drive). It might be they are calling the closer folks first.

Well, I’m in Boston, so no need to worry yet I guess. Yeah, a week seemed kinda short notice if you weren’t local.

Yeah no prob. I wont do the whole shibang (what people do when they are accepted).

Umm so lets see:
GPA: 4.0 uw, 4.866/5.0 W
Rank: 1/355
SAT: 2240 R 740 M 780 W 740
ACT: C 35… W 34 M 36 R 34 S 36
Extracurriculars: Varsity tennis (captain), neurobiology research, various volunteer (hospital, coach of FIRST lego team (robotics for middle school), tutoring), programming team, literary magazine (editor in chief), piano six years

Awards: Siemens semifinalist, NM semi, ap scholar w/ distinction, AIME qualifier, 2007 state champs in tennis

BTW, does getting an interview mean that I’m accepted to northwestern?

I think so

Those are some pretty solid stats…

congrats bballdude!!!

I see you did westinghouse, did you do intel?

Thanks google2008. I tried, but i guess it’s hard to compete with 124 (or however many) new york semis there were! haha…congrats for becoming an Intel semi (saw from the thread)! You doing hpme?

So I didnt realize this before, but apparently the interview is at the downtown medical campus. I love Chicago’s downtown exponentially more than evanston. This makes the visit much better.

Congrats bballdude! Was it Jason Palmer at HPME that you talked to?

Thanks. In fact it was. He sent me an email afterwards too. Apparently he is the HPME coordinator. Did you get a call too?

Wow congrats dude! You’re the first to know…now the rest of us are going to be dying of anticipation.

oh haha thanks! yup I am doing HPME and some other BA/MDs like Rice, Case. Did you do other ones?
Hopefully that’s enough to get me a interview :P…maybe

I heard that the interviews are conducted in groups because people have to travel there and stuff.

when is your interview date btw

It is next Tuesday the 29th. It is so soon because I live close by. It’ll probably be only nearby people in my group then. I did Wash U’s professional scholar program. I almost did Case’s but I already has a large school list. Do you have an aim sn?

Not yet. I had talked to him, because he was missing some paperwork from one of my teachers. So I figured it must be him.

Good luck on the interview. Let us know how it went.

Same here, he e-mailed me because they didn’t have my English teacher rec. That’s great, bball! I live in the city itself, so I guess I should hear in the next day or two or I’m out of contention…that’s wonderful >_>.

So they only inform you if you get an interview? Crikey, that makes it even more nerve wracking…
Any guesses on when they will get to the East Coast?

as far as i know, the interviews are not done in groups (mine weren’t)
and yes, if you get an interview you might as well consider yourself accepted into NU.

bballer, i think the interview will take you from the med campus to the evanston campus (my morning was at the med campus and my afternoon was at the chicago campus). Anyway, when you get to the evanston campus, you should come visit me after your interview (or before it).
