Northwestern HPME Part 1

it doesnt mean we definitely will get an interview. in fact, it sort of suggests we won’t but you can never really be sure. youll know for sure by the end of february if you got an interview or not

chillax go beat halo 3 on legendary or something. it’s your senior year!

Any idea how many are called back for interviews?
From that, what is it narrowed down to?

Good luck to anyone who has their interview this weekend:)

got the email for interview too.

so does that mean im accepted into northwestern undergrad?

what are you all’s stats?

got the email for interview today. i second bigreddawgie’s q

yes, you can assume that you are in NU

jonthelin, i was wondering if you could PM me some sort of advice about hte interview process. i attempted for 5 programs - union LIM, usc, HPME, caltech/ucsd, and will do UCSD when they invite.

i got rejected from USC and caltech/ucsd.

i will be interviewing for LIM and HPME but express more interest in HPME. im applying as a biomedical engineer. i was hoping you could PM me, let me know wat to expect, wat my chances are. id be happy to giv eyou my stats then as well.

bigred and aa6590, where are you guys from btw?

jon I remember you saying that you are from california, when did you get your interview last year? around?

sorry I am just alittle worried that seeing everyone is getting a email…and I haven’t…ya

im from southern california

i don’t remember when I got my interview but it sometime early to mid february.

regarding questions about the interviews:

There is really no trick to the HPME interview. All you have to do is convince the people who are interviewing you that you are dead set on becoming a doctor. You will most likely to be asked why you want to be a doctor and how you know your want to be a doctor (what about your extracurriculars and life experiences make you want to pursue a career in medicine.)

You should definitely sit down and outline what you want to say and practice transitioning between the different ideas. Don’t, however, memorize a speech. It will be obvious that you did so.

If you are planning to stay overnight at NU, try to stay overnight before you interview. That way, you will stay with an HPME and you can observe things that you might mention during the interview. If you do stay overnight and you think you need some help, ask your host to show you the way to Ayers CCI (my dorm).

Pleaz let me know if this is the end of the interviewing process?

BTW did you guys get an acknowlegement when you submitted the application for HPME?

uh oh aa6590 me too :(

@ aa6590–did caltech/ucsd already send out letters? if so when did you receive it? congrats and good luck with your hpme interview.

Do most people spend the night at NU?
I don’t live that far from NU and don’t really see the point of spending the night? What are the advantages and distandvantages?

I think it might show the HPME office how serious you are? I don’t know, it might be more so that kids who live out of the state have an easier time staying at NU.

i got rejected from caltech altogether.

im from texas

ah, but if you stay the night before, you will be housed by an HPME and if you desired to ask them about their interview…

Anyone got rejection letters so far?
