Only a few more hours to go, but I am between NU and GU.
NU pros- New city, Social Policy major, fun and energetic vibe, football, more diverse students in character, variety in departments, centers of civic engagement and leadership
NU cons- Greek life, $400 deposit, haven’t received FA package, weather, the school hasn’t made much of an effort to connect with me, maybe too expensive to travel, difficulty getting a job on campus
GU pros- Georgetown Scholars Program (mentoring, support, etc), GU Community Scholars Program (5 week academic session for 6 credits, mentoring, lunches), $200 deposit, Carrol fellows
GU cons- too close to home (40 minutes), serious vibe for students, competitive nature, grade deflation, small campus
Which school holds the most academic prestige and/or the most value?
Are each around the same for having TA led classes?
Best school for consulting, grad school or fellowships?
Would it be crazy for me to accept NU’s place, when I haven’t received my FA package yet? (I got close to a full ride at GU and would like the same from NU)
My fear about Georgetown is that there are great opportunities, but on a limited quantity. I feel that at NU has so many opportunities and because there is such a variety in majors/ interests, not everyone is competing for the same fellowship or research opportunity.
I have visited both schools and I am a low income, first generation, Latina, Questbridge scholar.
