Lots of ECs and awards

Was admitted to MIT.

@PPofEngrDr Thanks. And to your son too!

Just waiting on Ivy Day. As of now he’s between Michigan and UNC, in honors college for both.
I CANNOT wait for this to be over. It’s absolutely grueling for these kids.

@worrymom2018 lol you should change your id to dontworrymom2022… Congratulations on MIT.

@PPofEngrDr Thanks! College admission process is not predictable, it’s really tough for those seniors…

Yes, my D applied RD but was strong enough that they send her an early acceptance and Stride Scholarship offer.

Got my acceptance package/letter in the mail today!!! So excited!!

@jalapeno99 * Yes! *

has anyone received financial aid information yet? I’ve checked CAESAR too. I’m worried that they won’t give enough aid, as my EFC is 0

@klminj we are waiting too. However based on your EFC quote, you should expect a full ride, including FAFSA and work study. This is based on fin aid various cases examples.

@PPofEngrDr we are waiting as well on financial aid information. The acceptance letter stated about a week after we would have the information, but it is not accessible on Caesar. I wonder if they are waiting for the IVY info to be released.

@MisPollitas00 IVY are non-factor, most likely they are touching award letters only for accepted kids, makes sense to process 40K applicants award letter vs 2K for RD admitted, hence about a 7-10 days turnaround time. Few days back we got an email asking for any outside scholarship we may have. Believe any fin aid would be reduced by that outside scholarship. Also we read somewhere on their site that fin aid would start on 30th so i won’t loose hope if nothing is posted by EOD on 30th. Last year thread, people were posting that they received find aid info as late as mid-April.

Congratulations all! Welcome! I’m currently a junior here at Northwestern and we are so lucky to have some of you join our family. Please feel free to ask any questions if you have them!

@CaliCash thanks for reaching out. We have specific questions about pre-med/pre-healthcare/research route through Weinberg. Should I PM you or you are more in engineering side so if you can connect to right person?

@PPofEngrDr I am actually a journalism major. I can try to answer but I can’t promise that I will be of the most help when it comes to STEM. You can PM me and I can try to help direct you to the right person on campus

I talked to an admissions officer in person on Monday and he said to expect the financial aid notification by today (Wednesday), so we can hope for that

@PPofEngrDr I actually used the college board net price calculator for NU, and it predicted my cost to be 22,000. I’ve heard that colleges often recalculate your EFC so it may be different than on the FAFSA. Hopefully it works out!

@klminj I would more rely on NU example brochure on their site

Does anyone know where we would check financial aid info? Is it in the portal with the admission letter, or like an email?
