Northwestern Transfer Winter 2016

Hi everybody,

My stats
Transferring from Wake Forest University
GPA: 3.45
HSGPA: 3.7/4
SAT: 2200
SAT II: Math 2: 780, Physics: 750
ACT: 32
AP:
Calc BC: 5
Physics C: 4
Physics B: 5
Stats: 4
Lang: 5

Xtra Curr.:
Finance club analyst
Wake 'N Shake (our dance marathon for cancer) entertainment commitee

I also have substantial HS extra-curriculars and leadership positions.

I got a 3.2 first semester and a 3.75 second semester. I was taking less credits second semester, though, so it is weighted less. Beyond the question of my chances, I just wanted to see if it’s worth waiting another semester. I’m confident I can get at least another 3.75 (and I’m taking heavy credits) so my GPA would then be 3.65-3.75. I’d prefer to apply now and transfer as soon as possible but is it worth waiting for me? Also Wake has notable grade deflation (deans list is only at a 3.4), but do they consider school/schedule rigor?

Thanks in advance!

Gosh, you both are very qualified candidates! This really puts it into perspective how competitive the college process is, and, how an Amherst Admissions Officer said, is “making minute distinctions between incredibly qualified students.” I think you both have great shots - what is a little bit scary though is Northwestern’s fluctuating transfer acceptance rates. I really only know figures for the fall, but the highest I’ve ever seen it be is ~13%. But fingers crossed!
