Northwestern University Early Decision thread 2010

me either haha
i wonder how many people ED’d

wth online? are they gona make a website or something?

i left out the optional essay b/c i have never done a research like that, and i’m extremely worried that it would hurt my application. oh, god bless

Yeah, I heard we get a decision on the 15th of Dec. Idk if it’s online. I want a huge letter though haha.

And I think it’s fine, I didnt do the optional essay either. I haven’t done any research and I wasnt gonna make anything up

I searched forever just to make sure there wasnt anything extra to do and never found any mention of an optional essay… just the supplement stuff. Great! Oh well. And Ya they get posted somewhere online, then acceptance letters get sent. Or for me, rejection! haha

Well let’s hope we all get in. I thnink the average number of ED applicants is around one thousand, and the acceptance rate for ED is like 34% I believe. Fingers crossed.

Ya I do think that many people don’t apply ED to NU becuase they tend to apply early action to ivys and other top schools like NU and don’t want to commit. Not sure though, that just seems reasonable and what i’ve heard

Yeah, I agree. But NU is such an amazing school, i"m definetly glad I chose to apply ED here. Plus, that’s less competition for us haha.

Ya same. Less competition is always pretttty great. But last year, Im pretty sure the number of ED applicants for NU was 1577. They accepted around 36% or something, sooo they took around 540 or so. But I’ve also heard early app is always tougher competition. And i’m applying as a junior! (I skipped my senior year). Talk about intimidating… AHHH!

Oh wow. Yeah just a tad bit scary haha. I don’t think I could have done it.

haha ya, i didnt necessarily only want to do 3 years of high school, but i have taken too many classes, especially during summers. So it would be an awkward year for me. No language arts, high school math, etc. It would be a worthless year actually, so I have to apply to colleges haha. Hopefully im not at a massive disadvantage. I feel decent about my stats though.

confidence is key

haha so average act is 31? 32? SAT is way harder than ACT for me. 31 on the ACT, my SAT would be a lot lower for some reason. And my SAT subject tests are nothing special. I blend in with the rest with these tests. Eh, cant worry much. Im all worried out. just kinda in a haze haha. It goes how it goes

Is it easier to get into certain schools out of the six? I know medill is probably the hardest, but do they accept students with lower stats in say…school of communications  …? because that would be awesome

hey! how many of you are not permanent resident of US? I’m from China… therefore my background, such as my activities and rank, are quite different from yours. i can hardly know what’s my chance.

I’m not sure which is the hardest because unlike other universities, it’s harder to determine the admission stats for each school . Northwestern’s really hush hush about that sutff. haha, but I would assume Medill is the hrdest, followed by Weinberg (due to the large amount of applicants), then Communication and lastly social policy. Very few choose to enter that school in the first place so I wouldm’t think that they are swamped with applicants.

Not sure where Beinen would be but their admissions are based a little differently I would assume. But prob on the harder side.

Which did you guys do? I’m SoC! Communication Studies

Im applying to Weinberg. Biology, and as a second pre-law. There probably is quite a difference depending on which school your applying to. also, I saw on the internet that Joe Jonas and Selena Gomez are checking out NU. hahahahahaha!!! I’d date selena gomez so fast, just to make Emma Watson at Brown jealous haha. Joe Jonas on the other hand, I didnt know who he was until I saw him at disneyland! Biiiggg Security guard. Couldnt miss him. What a loser. Anyway, back to NU… hahaha

oh and about being from china, that could be a big plus. I have no idea. There are a lot of Asians at NU. Its like 20% Asian I think, sooo maybe that helps?

Yeah, definetly hope I get in. Definetly hope NOT to see any faction of the Jonas Brothers. Not a fan, but Selena Gomez is ok, I guess. But yeah, back to NU lol
